Tennis score sign

Review: Tennis

Another gem from Activision, this time revamping the two players pong but with a tennis outfit.

minimalistic graphics, great playability where the precision of where is the ball hit with the racket and the player's position ans side make all the difference (very different from later tennis where the button and joystick set ball's direction). Strategic involve to defeat the VCS at its high level .

There is small typo for tennis rules which the player can serve in any side of the opponent's however this must be done on purpose to try to make an ace when playing against another human... impossible to fool the AI's game.

If you master it you can always return a wining shot to the player when serving... master an the next step is to beat friends.

Up to two players, two levels it's a must have game for sport fans. If anyone is interested to play it online, just send me a message.

Dragon Spirit

En el juego Dragon Spirit después de terminarlo salen los típico créditos del equipo que lo desarrolló. Además sale una lista cronológica de los juegos hechos por Namco:

Review: M.U.L.E.

One of the first strategy and economic games, where you shouldn't jump or shoot someone/something to win.

Nice music, simple graphics plus great game rules where the thinking was over arcade attributes. You are a colonist in the planet Irata only with the help of M.U.L.E.'s (Multiple Use Labor Element) taking land to harvest later one of the four elements (energy, food, smithore and crystite ). Depending on many parameters as type of land, nature's phenomena and pirates! that occur will impact the planet's economic playing with the basic supply and demand curve .

Good humour, multiplayer up to four players (only in the Atari 800), imaginative
characters, unforgettable intro music, funny events that also affect each player once a while and the one of the best features: “Auction” where depending on how many products left you may sell or buy crushing the market and almost doing monopoly thus belonging the planet.

It has a small of arcade taste when catching the hidden wampus up in the mountains, you need time left to do it and probably finishing the day on the betting in the Pub.

A top classic game where Bunten created the genre of strategy games for home computers.

Review: Shamus Case II

The sequel where Shamus has to destroy the Shadow again.

This time it's a hybrid game where platformer and shoot'em-up became a new type of game. Discovering and learning the maze -helping with a map- to open the gates thus can reach the final goal activating a bomb and escape to destroy the shadow, your worst enemy; it needs the full concentration of the player otherwise you get lost and die.

Fast, colorful enemies, details in graphics, good sequences and the difficulty increase while you are getting deeper in the building (ladder starts to open, snakes as other mysterious shapes became faster and harder to kill), nice sound FX, great GFX getting the most of this lovely machine and a better intro with the classical Gounod's Funeral March of a Marionette.

It's a great game using in a good way the intrigue of Montezuma's Revenge through a maze and the shooting reflect of Space Invaders with hidden messages as Mataga did in Fort Apocalypses making sometimes your effort a wast of time (almost a joke). Also it one of the first games that has an ending, well most of the Synapse's games had one, but it wasn't a common feature for those years.

A classic game that it stays in a good shape.

Shamus II, la música

Siempre nos llamó la atención la música de los que jugábamos Shamus: Case II, era la misma de la serie de misterio de Alfred Hitchcock.

Gounod's Funeral March of a Marionette.
