The sequel where Shamus has to destroy the Shadow again.
This time it's a hybrid game where platformer and shoot'em-up became a new type of game. Discovering and learning the maze -helping with a map- to open the gates thus can reach the final goal activating a bomb and escape to destroy the shadow, your worst enemy; it needs the full concentration of the player otherwise you get lost and die.
Fast, colorful enemies, details in graphics, good sequences and the difficulty increase while you are getting deeper in the building (ladder starts to open, snakes as other mysterious shapes became faster and harder to kill), nice sound FX, great GFX getting the most of this lovely machine and a better intro with the classical Gounod's Funeral March of a Marionette.
It's a great game using in a good way the intrigue of Montezuma's Revenge through a maze and the shooting reflect of Space Invaders with hidden messages as Mataga did in Fort Apocalypses making sometimes your effort a wast of time (almost a joke). Also it one of the first games that has an ending, well most of the Synapse's games had one, but it wasn't a common feature for those years.
A classic game that it stays in a good shape.
